Child Find:

Wayne County School District continually strives to appropriately locate, identify, and evaluate children with possible disabilities from ages 3-21. Early identification of children in need of special education services is vital to ensure each student's educational progress and success.

Special Education services are provided to students who have been evaluated and qualify for one or more of the following disabilities: Autism, Deaf/Blind, Developmentally Delayed, Emotional Disability, Hearing Impaired, Intellectual Disability, Language/Speech Impaired, Multiple Disabilities, Orthopedic Impairment, Other Health Impairment, Specific Learning Disability, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Visual Impairment.

Family members, physicians, educators, as well as representatives of various agencies such as the Health Department, Department of Mental Health, Head Start facilities, day care centers, and private school entities, may make referrals for students who may have a possible disability.

You may also write, email, or call Tracy Holifield, WCSD Child Find Coordinator with any concerns regarding a student who may need an evaluation.
